~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Planet Warriors have been working, since 2008 with children in Hout Bay primary schools– Kronendal, Llandudno, Moravian, Sentinel and International.
Our Aim
- To uplift and inspire our children about their environment and allow them a positive platform to unleash their unique creative and entrepreneurial talents.
The results have been showcased at Planet Warriors events @ Hout Bay Green Faire 2009 & 2010 – Planet Warriors Grade 3 Recycle Market, Eco-fashion show and Musical talent contest.
PLANET WARRIORS FESTIVAL
at The Green Faire 2011 (12 – 3pm)
- Recycle market
Design and create funky things out of recycled materials. Children will be able to sell them at market stall at the Festival.
- Eco-fashion show
Design and create eco fashion outfits from recycled materials or throw away items. Children will then get the chance to model their creations at the Festival. Prizes will be awarded.
- Talent Contest
Up to 5 best singers or bands from each school have the opportunity to perform at the Festival. The winner will be awarded a day at Red Bull Sound Studio and a professionally recorded demo track.
- Design competition
Design something that moves (car, kite, mobile)- anything goes as long as it uses clean energy – wind, solar or pedal power!! Children can choose:-
(a) draw their design on A4 size page, to be hung in the Festival gallery.
(b) make up their design to be displayed at the Festival gallery
(c) create a performance (song, dance, poem) around their design to be featured on the solar stage.
- Radio competition
Write a radio script capturing what they love about our planet. The winning script will be recorded by ‘Consider Us’ – a campaign where children ask world leaders to consider their wishes, dreams and vision, when making decisions about climate change. Your children get a chance to audition as the new voice for the ‘Consider Us’ campaign at the Green Faire.
